How we can Help: Let an IATSE Volunteer run an errand for you, like picking up groceries or a prescription from your pharmacy. If you can’t do something, maybe we have a volunteer who can. At this time, our volunteers are not able to transport members to doctor appointments or the like. This is a volunteer errand service to help our members obtain basic needs.
How Help works: Our goal will be to connect a Member in Need to a nearby Member Volunteer and complete the request within 72 hours of the request. Please understand that is the goal that we strive for, not our guarantee. When a MIN is connected with a Volunteer, the two parties will coordinate any financial exchange necessary for this service.
As Needed; As Available Volunteer Based Service: Since we are in a very unique time, everything is subject to change. C.A.R.E.S. service is on an as-needed basis for all volunteers. Our initial goal is to be able to successfully respond to and provide for a member in need within 72 hours. The more volunteers that sign up, the more we are able to help members of our union. Understand that we are constantly building our Volunteer resources to establish a pool that can service our membership throughout continental North America, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
Meant for Members In Need: We want to make sure help is going to those who need it most. C.A.R.E.S. service is designed for Members in Need, which includes but is not limited to:
- Elderly members & Retirees
- Members with limited mobility and/or disabilities
- Members who are at an increased health risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19
- Members who are confined to their homes as caretakers of a loved one.
THIS IS A FREE/VOLUNTEER BASED SERVICE BUT THE MEMBER IN NEED WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO FULLY COMPENSATE/COVER THE EXPENSE OF ANY PURCHASES ON ANY ERRAND PERFORMED. CONSIDER THIS A ONE TIME SERVICE.
IN THE EVENT THAT YOU REQUIRE WEEKLY ASSISTANCE, PLEASE WORK WITH THE IATSE CARES TEAM TO SECURE CONSISTENT HELP.
